Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how ShopTrola (“we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, stores, and shares information when you use ShopTrola Universal POS (the “Service”), including our mobile applications, APIs, and related websites at https://shoptrola.com.
By using the Service, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. Who we are
ShopTrola provides point-of-sale (POS), inventory, billing, and related business tools for merchants. Contact for privacy requests: support@shoptrola.com.
2. Information we collect
Depending on how you use the Service, we may collect:
- Account & identity data — name, email address, phone number, authentication provider (Google, Facebook, or email/password), and provider user IDs.
- Google account data (Sign-In) — when you choose “Continue with Google”, we receive basic profile information that Google shares with our app, typically your name, email address, and profile identifier, subject to the scopes you approve.
- Google Drive linkage (optional) — if you connect a Google Drive account for backup or restore features, we store the Google Drive email you provide so we can associate backups with your business. We do not sell Google Drive file contents.
- Business profile data — business name, type/category, address, country, contact details, logo, and related onboarding information.
- Operational data — inventory, sales, staff, devices, branches, invoices, subscriptions, and support communications you create through the Service.
- Payment data — subscription plan selections, payment status, receipts, and gateway references (for example Razorpay / Stripe / PayPal). Card details are processed by the payment provider; we do not store full card numbers on our servers.
- Technical data — device identifiers, app version, IP address, timestamps, and diagnostic or API failure logs needed to operate and secure the Service.
3. How we use information
We use collected information to:
- Create and authenticate accounts (including Google Sign-In)
- Provide POS, inventory, billing, messaging (OTP), and subscription features
- Link optional Google Drive backup/restore settings to your business
- Process payments and issue invoices/receipts
- Provide customer support and respond to requests
- Maintain security, prevent abuse, and improve reliability
- Comply with legal obligations
We process Google user data only to provide or improve user-facing features that are prominent in the Service (sign-in and optional Drive backup association). We do not use Google user data for advertising, or for unrelated analytics products.
4. Google API Services & Limited Use
ShopTrola’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
- We only use Google user data to provide or improve features visible to you in the app.
- We do not sell Google user data.
- We do not use Google user data for serving advertisements.
- We do not allow humans to read Google user data except with your consent, for security/compliance investigations, or where required by law — and then only with appropriate access controls.
- We do not transfer Google user data to third parties except as necessary to provide/improve the Service, comply with law, or as part of a merger/acquisition with equivalent protections.
5. How we share information
We may share information with:
- Service providers who help us host, send OTPs (WhatsApp/SMS), process payments, or operate infrastructure, under contractual confidentiality and security obligations.
- Payment gateways to complete subscription transactions.
- Legal authorities when required by applicable law or to protect rights, safety, and security.
- Business transfers if we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, with notice where required.
We do not sell personal information.
6. Data retention
We retain account and business data for as long as your account remains active or as needed to provide the Service, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and meet legal, tax, and accounting requirements. Diagnostic logs may be retained for a shorter period for troubleshooting and security.
7. Your choices & rights
Subject to applicable law, you may request to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate information
- Delete your account and associated personal data (subject to legal retention needs)
- Withdraw Google access via your Google Account permissions settings
- Disconnect Google Drive linkage by updating or clearing the linked email in the app, or by contacting us
To make a request, email support@shoptrola.com from the email associated with your account. We may need to verify your identity before acting.
8. Security
We use administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect personal data (including encrypted transport via HTTPS and access-controlled servers). No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; please use strong credentials and protect your devices.
9. Children’s privacy
The Service is intended for business use by authorized store personnel and is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
10. International processing
Your information may be processed on servers in India or other locations where we or our service providers operate. We take steps appropriate to the transfer and applicable law.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised version on this page and update the “Last updated” date. Continued use of the Service after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
